Founding Story
Mom’s Final Christmas
As my mom faced her final Christmas while battling cancer, I wanted to give her something beyond material gifts—something timeless. I gifted her a jar and note cards, inviting our family to write down their fondest memories.
Months later, on Mother’s Day, we gathered around, pulling out those heartfelt notes one by one—laughing, crying, and celebrating the extraordinary life and love she brought into our world.
From Peaches to Memories
After my mom passed away, I found myself helping my dad sort through her belongings. Among them were her old peach canning jars. On the verge of tossing them, I had a realization: Why not take the memory jar concept further?
I placed jars in various places—her hospital workplace, our church, and among her closest friends and extended family. Each jar became a treasure trove of recollections, painting a vivid portrait of who she was to everyone she touched.
The Spark for MJF
Those jars became mosaics of my mom’s spirit. They preserved her essence, showing how shared memories can keep someone’s presence alive in the most profound way.
That’s when I knew these moments needed to be captured in more than just words. And so, Memory Jar Films was born.
Now, in Naples, Florida, I’m dedicated to reviving this passion project—helping others preserve their loved ones’ stories in the same heartfelt way I did for my mom.
